Needed ingredients

*1 teaspoon vanilla, *1 egg, *1/3 cup of butter, *1/3 cup shortening, *¾ cup of sugar, *1 teaspoon baking powder, *2 cups flour, *some salt.

Way of preparation

Stir the shortening and the butter together, adding and some salt. After the mixture is stirred enough strew vanilla, egg and floor. The flour should be added little by little while mixing all the ingredients. Cover well mixed dough and leave it for about three out in order to chill. After this time you make prepare whatever cookies you wish in different shapes. You can make tiny Christmas trees, Santa, bells, angels, lambs and the like. The cookies should be baked at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes.

Decorations

There are various ways to decorate sugar cookies. One of them is to add cinnamon into the dough for pleasant flavor. You can add it before or after the cookies are ready. Usually the cinnamon is added to round type of cookies.

Another way is to make your own frosting and spatter with it your cookies. The food frosting may be made of powder sugar, food coloring and some vanilla extract. It is up to you what color to make. However it is a good idea to choose the color depending on the cookies’ shape. For instance, if you have such cookie cutters as Christmas tree it will be better to use green. If you have Santa choose whatever color you like.
